This apprenticeships teaches you how to engage with individuals and groups to participate in sports. It has been developed my employers and designed to ensure you are equipped with the skills needed to work in the sport and leisure industry.

You cover a range of knowledge and skills including:

  • Understanding participation behaviours and how to engage people in sport
  • Coaching a sport and making adjustments to encourage people of different abilities and goals
  • The use of social media to market activities, keeping records and using software to analyse outcomes
  • Delivering a minimum of six events/projects
  • Leadership and coaching

Assessment Methods

Assessment is at the end of the apprenticeship through an observed coaching session, presentation on a project or event you’ve worked on and panel interview. During the apprenticeship, you will be regularly visited in your workplace by a qualified assessor to check on your progress and ensure you are building evidence towards your final assessment.

Progression Options

On successful completion of the Level 2 apprenticeship, you could work towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Sport Development or Level 3 Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Physical Education and School Sport.

Entry Requirements

You need GCSEs in the 9 to 2 (A* to E) range, or a Level Functional Skills qualification. Course entry is subject to a successful interview.
