This Apprenticeship is suitable for you if you wish to study while earning a salary in paid employment. It is assessed in a work situation and combines knowledge and practical skills. It is a flexible programmes and you will need to have the opportunity to be involved in planning learning activities in your workplace. This Apprenticeship is suitable for those who are new to the childcare sector.

You will complete the following components as part of your Apprenticeship framework:

  • Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner
  • Functional Skills Level 1 in English and Maths

We have excellent relationships with early years settings in the area and we provide a supportive learning environment at College. The teaching staff and assessors have recent, relevant work place experience and enjoy the opportunity to nurture new practitioners.

You are expected to have employment of at least 30 hours a week to be able to do an Apprenticeship. Your employment will need to last the duration of the course.

Assesment Methods

You will build a portfolio, which will include coursework and practical assessments in your workplace. You will undertake a knowledge test and a professional discussion for your End Point Assessment.

You may be required to sit exams for Functional Skills in English and Maths if you do not already have these.

Progression Options

On completion of this course you could apply to progress to the Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard.

Entry Requirements

  • To access the Intermediate Apprenticeship you will need to be in relevant employment and have GCSEs in the A* – E/3-9 range or a relevant level 1 qualification
  • DBS
  • An interview is required for this course
  • Mature students welcome to apply
