Course Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for you to explore the ever-changing world of hospitality. You will learn how to become a professional member of a team within state-of-the-art facilities, The Quantock Restaurant. You will learn about a range of cooking processes and techniques, as well as guest-facing roles within the hospitality industry. The course has been developed for you to gain an understanding and foundation of knowledge about workplace skills needed to be part of a vibrant industry. You will learn about the diverse opportunities whilst working alongside professionals at Taunton College, as well as completing a one-week work placement in the local area.

Our excellent relationship with employers ensures you gain relevant and valuable experience within the sector. It is the first step into the world of Hospitality.

Assesment Methods

Your week will contain a combination of classroom and workshop lessons as well as sessions in our commercial operation where your practical skills will be assessed. You will complete written and practical assessments as well as coursework.

You will have the opportunity to work with professionals on our guest chef nights as well as experience a variety of visits to expand your knowledge of the industry. Our links with prestigious employers such as Homewood House Bath, The Castle Hotel, Great Fosters amongst others will encourage you to raise your aspirations.

Progression Options

On successful completion of the course, you will be able to apply for the Diploma in Professional Cookery at Taunton College. Alternatively, you could start an Apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

You need three GCSEs in the 9 to 3 range.
