Course Overview

Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses designed to equip adult learners with industry-relevant skills based on employer demand. These programmes aim to: – Upskill learners in their current job roles – Help learners acquire new skills and secure employment upon completion – Provide a pathway to accelerated apprenticeships This programme focuses on Advanced Steel Fixing. It is designed for individuals looking to enhance their understanding and skills in this area. The curriculum includes comprehensive health & safety training related to steel reinforcement and numerous practical sessions with access to relevant PPE, tools, and techniques. Units of study/what is involved: • Introduction to health and safety • Types and properties of reinforcing steel • Basic termanology and symbols • Understanding reinforcement drawings • Reinforcement design basics and concepts • Types of reinforcement in structures • Hands-on practice in practical sessions • Reinforcement detailing for slabs, beams, columns and foundations • Advanced steel reinforcement techniques • Spacing, tolerances and clearances • Bar bending and cutting techniques • Site practices and quality control • Assessmnet and certification through a final project and final evaluation

In person teaching and assessment practicals.

Progression Options

On completion and achievement of the Skills Bootcamp, learners will be able to upskill in their current role, apply for relevant jobs, or progress on to an accelerated apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

• Aged 19 or over • Has lived in the UK for the last 3 years • Have not started or completed a Skills Bootcamp this financial year • Have the right to work in the UK • Unemployed and looking for a role in the steel fixing industry or related construction • If you are employed and upskilling, your employer may be asked to contribute dependant on your circumstances.
