Course Overview

This 1-day refresher training has been designed for all Healthcare Professionals whose work involves the Moving and Handling of People.

This course will cover the following aspects of moving and handling people:

Manual Handling Responsibilities and the Law

  • Anatomy of the spine and types of injuries
  • Safe lifting techniques
  • Lifting objects
  • Key elements of people moving
  • Risks and controls related to people moving
  • People moving – risk assessments / personal plan
  • People moving equipment.

Course Benefits

At the end of the training course, you will have the competence to provide correct people handling techniques so that risks are reduced to yourself and patients/residents.

There are no formal assessments for this course, but class discussions will take place around the theoretical underpinning of knowledge.
